PREPARATIONS FOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2022 DISCUSSED DURING BEACH VOLLEYBALL COMMISSION MEETING
The FIVB Beach Volleyball Commission today met via videoconference with the President of the Commission, Vicente Araujo, and its Secretary, Edward Drakich, joining from the FIVB Headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Members of the Beach Volleyball Commission were presented with updates on next year’s Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour and the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, in addition to learning about the FIVB’s Volleyball Empowerment programme and how it can benefit the development of beach volleyball around the world. The Commission also discussed preparations for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 and the Qualification system for the event.
“For the inaugural season of the Beach Pro Tour in 2022, we have already secured some of the most iconic locations around the world across all five Continental Confederations. I personally held discussions with the Maldives, Mexico and some other countries that we can now see in the calendar hosting events. The calendar will be continually updated and more and more exciting locations around the world will become part of the 2022 season. Next year, we will also have the World Championships in Rome from 7 to 19 June at the historic Foro Italico.
“As you can see, the future of beach volleyball is bright! So, let’s continue this great work and together we can bring our sport to the next level!”
The Beach Volleyball Commission meeting opened a series of commission meetings scheduled for December 2021 and January 2022. Later this week, the meetings of the Technical and Coaching Commission and Marketing and Communication Commission will take place.
