AFC chooses Thailand to host 3 AFC football groups Champions League
The Football Association of Thailand announced that Thailand was chosen by the AFC to be the host. Organized the AFC Champions League 2022 season, the group stage of 3 groups with teams from Thailand participating in the competition.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has confirmed that it has chosen Thailand. to host Organized the AFC Champions League 2022 season, 3 group stages, confirming the competition in Pathum Thani, Buriram, Chiang Rai, the AFC will send officials to check the readiness of the field again in early March.
For the AFC Champions League 2022 season, representatives from Thailand participated in all 4 clubs, divided into 2 clubs in the group stage, namely BG Pathum United (Thai League Championship 2020/21) and Leo Chiang Rai. United (FA Cup winner 2020/21 season)
The other 2 clubs in the play-off round are Buriram United (2nd place Thai League season 2020/21) and Port Authority FC (3rd place Thai League season 2020/21). Recently, AFC has sent a letter confirming the hosting. Organize the competition as follows:
Group F: Buriram, Thailand, with four clubs in this group: Shandong Luneng (China), Urawa Reds Diamonds (Japan), Lion City Sellers (Singapore). Winner between Daegu FC (South Korea) and Buriram United (Thailand)
Group G: Pathum Thani, Thailand, with four clubs in this group: BG Pathum United (Thailand), Chunnam Dragons (South Korea), United City (Philippines), Melbourne City (Australia).
Group H: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, with four clubs in this group: Chonbuk Hyundai Motors (South Korea), Yokohama F Marinos (Japan), Hong Han Ya Lai (Vietnam), winner between Changchun Yatai (China) and Sydney FC (Australia) or Kaya FC (Philippines).
Group I: Johor Barul, Malaysia, with four clubs in this group: Kawasaki Frontale (Japan), Guangzhou FC (China), Johor Darul Tasim. (Malaysia), Winner between Ulsan Hyundai (South Korea) and Port FC (Thailand)
Group J: Chiang Rai, Thailand (pending confirmation), with four clubs in this group: Shanghai Port (China,) Leo Chiang Rai United (Thailand), Kitchee SC (Hong Kong), players Win between Vissel Kobe (Japan) and Melbourne Victory (Australia)
For the AFC Champions League group stage 2022 season in the East zone. Will compete in all 6 matches between April 15 - May 1, 2022 and will lead the group champion team with the 2nd best 3 out of 5 groups through to the next knockout round.
